Well, no worries, I've seen a lot of movies in the last few weeks...but, I'm not going to talk about them today.
I want to talk about Christmas today! =D
If you know me, you're probably aware that I am a Christmas fanatic. I'm not religious, but christmas is something I look forward to entire year, starting at december 27'th.
Don't get me wrong though, I never over-do it. I have only 1 big christmas tree, 1 tiny tree, a few strings of lighting, maybe some fake snow on the windows, and that's about it. I don't disguise my house as a christmas carnaval. Less is usually more when it comes to the feeling of christmas.
What I also enjoy to full extent in december, to go 'on topic', are christmas movies.
They make me all warm and fuzzy inside, and that's probably because, eventhough most of them are hilarious, they also send out the most important message of all:
Christmas is NOT about presents.
There, I said it.
To me, it's also not about Jesus, or god, eventhough I was raised a Christian.
The most important thing about Christmas, to me, is the feeling of love, cosyness, and warmth. After all, 't is the season to be jolly!
I don't see my family a lot, and it's nice to spend time with some of them on Christmas. I heard a lot of people say, that they don't need Christmas to be with their family's and I agree. But! Usually I am too tied up with school and other things I need to be doing, that when I do have time to spend with my family, it's just dinner. At Christmas, we have two whole days together, nothing needs to be rushed, and I don't have to worry about the load of homework waiting for me.
Spending time with friends, family, watching Christmas movies, enjoying a nice cup of tea and some nice food, is way more important than gifts to me.
I don't need a new console, expensive shoes, an iPhone or anything else over the top, to be merry. I really don't. And I hope that you don't either.
So, a rather unusual blog this time, but I really needed to tell you how I feel.
I wish you all a very merry, cosy, heartwarming Christmas, and ofcourse a sparkly brandnew year!
Love,
Renate
PS: I'm having a ball!
